Ball rules
The Wiener Ball der Gastronomie upholds the refined conventions of traditional Viennese ball culture. The points below make sure every guest can enjoy the ball night undisturbed.
Dress code
Ladies: floor-length evening gown or formal ball dress.
Gentlemen: black tailcoat with white bow tie, or dinner jacket with black bow tie.
Guests who do not comply with the dress code may be refused admission.
Admission and times
Doors and champagne reception for dinner guests and guests of honour from 7:30 pm, gala dinner from 8:00 pm.
Admission for promenade guests from 9:00 pm. The ceremonial opening begins at 9:30 pm — we kindly ask guests to take their places in the grand hall by then.
During the opening and the midnight quadrille the dance floor is reserved for the committee and the guests' quadrille respectively.
Tickets, seating and cloakroom
Your ticket must be presented on admission and remains valid throughout the ball night.
Reserved seats at a table are tied to the dinner ticket and the VIP dinner ticket. The promenade ticket does not include a fixed seat.
Use of the cloakroom is included in the ticket price and is mandatory for coats and outerwear.
Photography and filming
The organiser and accredited media take photographs and film during the ball night for reporting and communications. By entering the palace, guests consent to this.
Commercial recordings by guests are permitted only with the prior approval of the ball office.
Conduct at the palace
The house rules of Palais Auersperg and the instructions of ball and security staff apply.
Alcohol is served in accordance with statutory provisions. Admission is permitted from the age of 16; the provisions of the Vienna Youth Protection Act apply to young people.
Bringing your own food and drink, as well as weapons and dangerous objects, is prohibited.
